How to make your own bronzer!
You won´t believe how easy this is! And I am pretty sure you all will have the ingredients right in your kitchen!
I had my inspiration because my Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer smelled like chocolate- so I checked the ingredients: Talc, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Zinc Stearate, Boron Nitride, Sodium Saccharin, Benzyl Benzoate, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Phenoxyethanol, Parfum/Fragrance, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Fruit Powder, Benzyl Alcohol, Silica, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Mica. May Contain/Peut Contenir/(+/-): Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742).
Of course it was in there: cocoa powder! It is not magic that it smells like that! But there is also so many unpronounceable ingredients which kind of always scare me. Now my recipe on the other hand has only 3 ingredients! hehe! I am using: cocoa powder, powdered sugar and cinnamon! This bronzer will cost you only cents! :-)
3 simple ingredients: powdered sugar, cinnamon and cocoa powder |
Be careful with the cinnamon as some people react allergic to it on their skin- apply it to test for 24 hours on your skin. Instead of the powdered sugar you could use also: cornstarch or arrow root powder. This really is only about finding the right color for you. You can get creative here with spices and use also Turmeric or Nutmeg- whatever your heart or your skin tone desires.
Then you just mix the ingredients. I really like to use a whisk for this as it gets rid of bigger grains.
Mix the ingredients careful |
I used my Too Faced Bronzer as a color reference- if it needs to be lighter- use more powdered sugar. If it is too light- use more cocoa powder- it´s as simple as that.
My Too Faced Bronzer was my color reference |
Once you mixed the right color you want to put it a couple of times through a sifter.
Sift your mix |
Sift bigger pieces out |
We do not want these big chunks in our bronzer |
My ready to use bronzer |
Press it! |
My bronzer is more like a loose powder |
Me with my own bronzer applied |
Now I dare you to try this! :-)
Let me know how this worked out for you!
Have a great day,
