PMD PERSONAL MICRODERM REVIEW
I was really excited to try the brand new PMD-Personal Microderm
! Anything to speed up my skin cell turnover (which naturally slows down as we age)!
Here are the claims:
The PMD PersonalMicroderm is an at-home microdermabrasion device that uses Aluminum
Oxide Crystals and a vacuum suction
to smooth away dead skin cells and literally uncover younger skin. When used
just once a week, the PMD will minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles,
brown spots, tone, texture and blemishes for a vibrant, youthful complexion.

similar to a professional treatment, but without the hassle or cost. From home,
get professional
skin-resurfacing results without repeatedly paying for high prices
treatments.
The PMD Personal Microderm comes with 6 different disks plus a white "practice disk". The bigger ones are for you body, the smaller ones for your face. After around 4 treatments you need to use a new disk.
The disks have different colors: the white one is just for practice, the blue ones are for sensitive skin and the green ones are for medium abrasion. There is also red disks for maximal abrasion available but you need to buy these separately.
The first time you need to practice a little bit- you use the white disk for that. You need to get a feeling on how the device feels on your skin. You can practice on your arm- the white disk won´t do anything. If you think you are ready, you start with the blue disk- which is for sensitive skin or beginners. It is very important that you pull your skin super straight (please see my video how) to avoid that the device pulls your skin in.
Even though I read the manual carefully and also watched the CD that comes with this I had a tiny "accident" and exactly this happened: I did not pull the skin straight enough, a bit of skin got sucked in for a second and it left a tiny mark for a couple of days. No big deal, all gone now- but just make sure this does not happen to you and always pull your skin straight!
The PMD works only with a plug- it is not battery operated for a good reason: you always need "full power" so the device works accurately.
I am using the PMD Personal Microderm since 3 weeks. which means I have done the treatment 3 times (as you have to wait in between for 7 days) and I am honestly loving it! What is also so fantastic about this is that you do not apply any chemicals or acids on your skin: it is simply dermabrasion without any toxins that might harm your skin.
The treatment does not hurt at all, the sound makes you feel like you are shaving your face- which of course you don't. I don´t have sensitive skin, so I can´t really talk for those- for me- having "normal" skin, this worked wonderfully! I did not even notice flaking or shedding of my skin, but it would be normal if this would happen to you. The device simply helped to get rid of those top layers of old skin and makes my skin feel super smooth and even. This will probably help a great deal to get rid of some dark spots I have in the long run.
As for the body: I am not really using this device for that but I can imagine that some people might get a great use out of this. I generally have great (soft) skin on my body and do not feel the need at the moment to use it there.
I will keep using the PMD Personal Microderm on my face once a week (and skip the chemical peels for now)- I love it!
